Over 85 months, we built 18 modules spanning the claims life cycle (FNOL through recovery) supporting 15 different user profiles.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When we began our second claims project, we realized that less than 25% of what we had built for the first insurer was transferable to another line of business.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This raised an obvious follow\u2011up question:\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What if we focused on building claims systems only for motor (auto) insurers?<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Even then, we found that less than 40% of claims technology was reusable across insurers, since carriers approach us with custom requirements at varying stages of their insurance journey.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Going Beyond Existing Claims Automation Systems<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW88065177 BCX0\">Starting out, we were under the impression that \"Claims\" was a monolithic block in the insurance journey. As we engaged with clients however, we understood that each <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW88065177 BCX0\">insurer\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW88065177 BCX0\">had their own process of handling claims that they were\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW88065177 BCX0\">most\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW88065177 BCX0\">comfortable sticking with.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%27http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%27%20width%3D%271280%27%20height%3D%27720%27%20viewBox%3D%270%200%201280%20720%27%3E%3Crect%20width%3D%271280%27%20height%3D%27720%27%20fill-opacity%3D%220%22%2F%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/dev.opendesignsin.com\/insillion\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Building-a-Low-code-Insurance-Process-Automation-Platform.svg\" alt=\"null\" \/><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">We broke the claims journey down step-by-step\u00a0and\u00a0identified\u00a0a set of workflows that\u00a0nearly every\u00a0insurer shared.\u00a0With this data in hand, we explored\u00a0whether we\u00a0could\u00a0build\u00a0insurance\u00a0and claims\u00a0verticalizations\u00a0on top of\u00a0existing\u00a0horizontal\u00a0platforms such as Camunda or IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW).<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Two challenges became clear:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"5\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These platforms were prohibitively expensive for many insurers<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"5\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Most were cloud\u2011first, while a\u00a0significant number\u00a0of carriers\u00a0required\u00a0on\u2011premise deployments for compliance and data control.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Inflow by Insillion<\/h2>\n<p><img class=\"lazyload\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns%3D%27http%3A%2F%2Fwww.w3.org%2F2000%2Fsvg%27%20width%3D%271280%27%20height%3D%27720%27%20viewBox%3D%270%200%201280%20720%27%3E%3Crect%20width%3D%271280%27%20height%3D%27720%27%20fill-opacity%3D%220%22%2F%3E%3C%2Fsvg%3E\" data-orig-src=\"https:\/\/dev.opendesignsin.com\/insillion\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Workload-orchestration-platform-for-insurance-companies-Insillion.svg\" alt=\"Workload orchestration platform for insurance companies Insillion\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These questions led to us creating <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.opendesignsin.com\/insillion\/products\/workflows\">InFlow, Insillion's insurance workflow automation engine<\/a>.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">InFlow is an <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.opendesignsin.com\/insillion\/products\/submission-automation\">insurance process automation software<\/a> designed specifically for insurance operations. It leverages AI, using <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.opendesignsin.com\/insillion\/blog\/insurance-automation-idp-ocr-nlp\">Intelligent Document Processing (IDP)<\/a> to automate administrative tasks by extracting, validating, and contextualizing both structured and unstructured data from policy documents.
